How Maxime Delacroix learns by doing at Sopra Steria
Personal growth rarely follows
a neat or predictable path.
It often comes from trying things out, making mistakes and gradually finding confidence through practice. For Maxime Delacroix, joining Sopra Steria marked the beginning of a journey driven by curiosity and a real desire to understand how things work in real life.
A hands-on mindset
Maxime learns best by getting involved. He prefers figuring things out directly on real systems and feels most comfortable when he can work through technical challenges himself, especially within infrastructure. He enjoys understanding how systems behave beneath the surface and believes that practical experience is key to building real expertise. Alongside the technical work, he values everyday interactions with colleagues, often using informal conversations to exchange ideas and improve how things are done.
Working at the heart of infrastructure
Based in Louvain-la-Neuve, Maxime works within the Data Center team, which supports critical infrastructure for major clients including Luminus and ING. As part of the System Team, he focuses on managing infrastructure from the hypervisor layer upwards. His role sits close to the core of operations and plays a direct part in keeping systems stable, scalable and reliable.
Choosing Sopra Steria
What initially attracted Maxime to Sopra Steria were the people. Conversations with colleagues already working there gave him a clear and honest picture of the environment and confirmed that this was the right place to continue developing his skills.
First months of discovery
Joining a new team came with a steep learning curve. The first months were intensive and required quick adaptation, but they also provided the opportunity to build strong foundations. Training and hands-on work quickly moved Maxime from theory into practice, making the transition both challenging and rewarding.
Growing into real contribution
Over time, Maxime’s role has evolved through experience rather than formal changes. He has moved from observing how things work to actively contributing and taking ownership of tasks. Support from colleagues and managers has been essential in this process. Managers encourage autonomy, while teammates take time to explain complex systems directly on the infrastructure. This practical and collaborative learning approach has helped Maxime grow in confidence and feel fully part of the team.
What comes next
Looking ahead, Maxime is motivated by the new technologies the team is currently exploring. The constant evolution of infrastructure and the technical challenges it brings are what keep the work engaging. His focus is on continuing to deepen his expertise, taking on more responsibility and contributing more independently to ongoing projects.
For Maxime Delacroix, personal growth at Sopra Steria is an ongoing process built through curiosity, trust and hands-on experience. One that continues to take shape as he moves forward in his role.
